PETROLHEADS
Create the best multi-functional karting experience and provide new standards in the industry. It had to offer educational visits for local schools, a changing race track, corporate events along with a retail outlet to get kitted out in and a unique cafe situated in the middle of the race track; perfect for spectators.
PETROLHEADS EXPLAINED
The task was to find an existing site that could be adapted to incorporate a commercial idea needed in the area.
Previously a large-scale car selling depot, this building was perfectly situated in North London with close links to all major forms of transport: walking distance from a train station, bus links and major road links to the M25.
The design of the building is set over 2 floors with the ground floor double in height allowing a feel of grandeur and originally making the perfect viewing balconies.
Throughout the design I included a breath-taking entrance foyer, a second floor full of different facilities; including a shop, and the most enjoyable place to view all the fun; a café set centre stage of the track to make full advantage of the driving taking place.
MATERIAL FINISH - Corrugated metal, glass, white brick with dark grey grouting, polished concrete floors, with the occasional glass walkway to see the ground floor and lighting in a variety of styles to highlight the corporate identity.
